PM Viorica Dancila in Brussels to meet European officials, to present Romania’s commitment to the EU
Prime Minister Viorica Dancila is in Brussels on Tuesday and Wednesday to meet the European Union leaders, among them EC President, Jean-Claude Juncker, the European Council President, Donald Tusk and the European Parliament President, Antonio Tajani, on the agenda being foreign policy issues.
The Government informs that during the visit, Romania’s commitment to face the current challenges, to consolidate the EU unity and cohesion will be presented, with reference to the coming Presidency of the EU Council.
On the agenda of talks, issues related to the consolidation of the European project, domestic security, EU neighbourhood, the European Economic and Monetary Union and the prostects of European elections in 2019 will be approached.
PM Viorica Dancila said last Thursday: “In Brussels I will have a meeting with EC President Juncker, with European Council President Donald Tusk, with the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani and, of course, with the European Commissioner for Regional Development, Corina Cretu. I believe these issues are important and it is important for us to have openness and cooperation with the EU Member States and with the states with which we have strategic partnerships.”
“Also, we will stress the European dimension of the governance. We will try to actively take part to the talks on economic future. Last but not least, we will grant special attention and get mobilized to increase the absorption rate of European funds. I’ve had a series of meetings with the Ambassadors accredited in Bucharest this week. I will continue these meetings, in order to put into practice my promises made during the discourse of investiture,” PM Dancila has said.
