PNL Diaspora President Viorel Badea has filed, on Friday, a criminal complaint to the Prosecutor General’s Office against Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu (photo), accusing him of premeditating the prevention of Romanian citizens abroad from casting their ballots at the May 26 election, PNL spokesman Ionel Danca announced.

“What happened on May 26 is unbelievable and Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu should be criminally responsible for premeditating his deeds, as well as all those with responsibilities abroad, for preventing the Romanian citizens to vote,” Danca said.

He argues that PSD and ALDE tried to prevent, in all ways, the exercise of the right of casting the votes.

Danca added that, by the Criminal Code, the prevention from voting by any means is punishable by jail from 6 months to 3 years and that the liberals ask Melescanu and the Government to cease the persecution against Romanians abroad.
