The spokesperson of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Ionuţ Stroe, said on Monday that there is still availability and openness for “any kind of right-wing political form”, the party considering itself “legitimate” to discuss with formations that have this orientation ideological, in the context in which he accuses the PSD of being “increasingly virulent and critical”, and the sovereignist parties are negotiating an association between them.

At the same time, Stroe rejected the idea that the PNL partners would impose conditions on him before the discussions.

“We believe that the National Liberal Party, at this moment, is all the more legitimate to hold these discussions as we see that, here, in the area of the sovereignists, they are trying to form an association of parties, in the left area we have a PSD increasingly virulent and critical, obviously this discussion is needed”, said the PNL spokesperson. “From our side, there was and still is availability and openness for any kind of right-wing political form,” added Stroe.

Asked about the condition set by the right-wing parties regarding a break between the PNL and the PSD, he answered: “You cannot start certain discussions by conditioning your partner.

Stroe also stated that the PSD is attacking the president of the PNL, Nicolae Ciucă, through an “orchestrated avalanche of posts”. “It is absolutely normal and legitimate that, under the conditions in which the president of the party is attacked in a – it can be seen very clearly – orchestrated avalanche of posts from the social democrats, there should be a reaction from our side“, said the spokesperson of PNL.

The attacks between the PNL and the PSD have increased constantly in the last period, against the background of the approach of the presidential and parliamentary elections, the mutual dissatisfaction within the governing coalition and the scandal triggered by the arrest of doctors from the St. Pantelimon Hospital in the Capital, in the case of suspicious deaths from the ICU section.

Marcel Ciolacu Nicolae Ciucă had, on Friday, an unprecedented exchange of remarks on Facebook since the formation of the coalition. Ciucă reproached the current prime minister for making contradictory statements in the St. Pantelimon Hospital scandal, for making “the worst decision” and asked him to “treat with maximum responsibility”. In response, the PSD leader told Ciucă to “write more in his famous book and less on social networks” and accused him of knowing about the asylum scandal, but “hiding in the offices”.

Moreover, the Social Democrats have slammed the campaign made by the Liberals to promote their leader Nicolae Ciuca by publishing a book with EUR 2 M costs from public revenues.

At the beginning of August, Nicolae Ciucă declared, about the discussions with the leaders of the right, that he opened the dialogue for such a gathering of the political forces of the right and that they can discuss for a political project aimed at a common line of approach for the electoral campaign at presidential and parliamentary elections.
