Presidency dismisses information on inadvertences of rent incomes

Rise Project platform reporting on corruption and organized crime in Romania claims there is a EUR 115,000 difference between the revenues from rents reported by president Iohannis in his wealth statements during 2004-2007 and the real sums of money appearing in the leasing contracts of his real estate properties. In retort, the Presidential Administration says that all revenues obtained from leasing contracts by president Iohannis have been totally declared.
“All incomes earned by Romania’s president, Klaus Iohannis from the renting of his properties are fully appearing in the filed wealth statements. There is no sum obtained from rent that wouldn’t have been declared since 2004 up to the present. At the same time, Mr. Klaus Iohannis paid all taxes for the entire sums of money obtained from renting the buildings. All incomes have been mentioned in his wealth statements gradually filed and any other reckoning proceeding of those incomes is just speculation which is not in accordance with the reality,” reads the press release issued by the Presidential Administration on Monday.
According to the wealth statement filed by the Romanian president early this year, he and his wife have annual revenues from rents worth RON 228,132. This sum appears in all wealth statements filed by Iohannis during 2010-2014 as Sibiu Mayor.
On the other hand, journalists from Rise Project say that during 2004-2007 Klaus Iohannis declared lower incomes from smaller rents. They argue this would derive from several renting contracts signed by Iohannis and some companies that opened work sites in the buildings owned by Iohannis. Rise Project explains it got those contracts from the Trade Register where those companies had filed them to prove they are legally working in those buildings lent by the incumbent president of Romania.
So, according to this source, during 2004-2007, the difference between the sums from the contracts and those mentioned by Iohannis in his wealth statements mounts to EUR 115,000. Thus, while the contracts point that Iohannis would have cashed in EUR 150, 000 from rents, his wealth statements record total revenues of EUR 35,000 from rents.

Ms. Butu, everybody knows that things like “the journalists from Rise Project” (who don’t have a name ? Strange…) are simply a smear campaign orchestrated by the unpopular and corrupt plagiarist Victor Ponta & his party who want to get rid of President Klaus Iohannis. Why are you repeating false claims like this without investigating who these “journalists from Rise project” really are ? If you don’t even present names, this shouldn’t be news. This is supposed to be journalism, not a rumour machine. This is not worthy of a news site. If you want to do politics, go into politics, but stop with your slander masked as ‘journalism’. Thank you.

However, I think I started my article right from the title with ‘presidency dismisses…” and with the presidential administration point of view, I think it’s very objective. Thank you.

According to the cited source, Klaus Iohannis has duly paid all the taxes on the rent he collected on his own behalf and on behalf of the co-owner.
“All proceeds were mentioned in the successively submitted tax returns and any other way of calculating the amount is mere speculation which does not match reality,” concludes the Presidential Administration.”
This all is just a cheap smear campaign.
You shouldn’t believe everything that some (anonymous?) “journalists”
paid by Iohannis’ political enemies try to sell you.
Scrutiny is good, but this is un-checked slander.
Mr. Radulescu, I think you did not read our article quite well. This quote is surely found in it.

This quote from Agerpres is surely found in our article, but under our translation, the information is the same.
Besides, I think you get it wrong, you mistake the notion of reporting with the one of assuming a piece of news. We were just reporting on this information, we are not assuming it. Mediafax, Agerpres and even the website of the national television TVR reported on it. We presented the information objectively, including both points of view, moreover we began the article with the Presidency denying the information and quoting their press release. If the information didn’t deserve attention I think the Presidency itself would not bother to reply to it.
I cited: “…can be entirely found in the tax returns filed.” Where are the tax returns mentioned in your piece ? That’s important information. Did anybody take a look at them before writing your hit piece? It can easily be proven that the President paid all his taxes correctly. It should have been in the article.
But the best way would have been to CHECK everything before you repeat, what other fools wrote.
Will you write an apology to the President, when everything’s over ? No, of course not.
By repeating slanderous accusations without checking them, you all discredit yourself.
And, please, always mention the names of the accusers, not just “RISE project”.

This information appears, I wonder why don’t you see it.The original in Romanian is “Toate veniturile obtinute de presedintele României, domnul Klaus Iohannis, din închirierea imobilelor detinute în proprietate si coproprietate se regasesc integral în declaratiile de avere depuse”. so it is “the filed wealth statements” that appears in our article, not tax returns as the other translated it.
