Presidency slams PSD for attempt „to clean up image” by Constitution revision pledge
Presidency’s spokeswoman, Mădălina Dobrovolschi, has criticised Social Democrats on Monday, arguing that “no matter how hard they tried to clean up their image, they cannot fool anyone that they are well-intended“. “Is PSD in a hurry to publicly walk with the initiative of Constitution revision?” she asked.
“As for the already publicly announced intentions revealed by the Chamber speaker, according to which PSD is about to draft a bill to revise the Constitution in order to enforce the result of the referendum on justice, Romania’s President considers that no matter how hard they tried to clean up their images, Social Democrats cannot fool anyone anymore that they would be well-intended and interested in respecting the citizens’ will,” the spokeswoman said.
“Could it be merely a coincidence that right after President Klaus Iohannis has summoned political parties for consultations at Cotroceni, PSD is in a hurry to publicly walk with this initiative to revise the Constitution?,” Dobrovolschi added.
Her reaction comes after the new Chamber of Deputies speaker, Marcel Ciolacu, has announced today that a draft bill to revise the Constitution is to be drawn up in order to enforce the results of the referendum on justice held on May 26 and validated by an overwhelming turnout and “yes” vote.
