President Klaus Iohannis has announced on Friday he would summon a special meeting of the Supreme Defence Council (CSAT) to discuss about upcoming NATO Summit in Brussels.

Romania is approaching these matters as seriously as possible and, in the light of the extremely important decisions to be taken at the NATO Summit, I’ve decided to summon a special CSAT meeting to get prepared for that summit,” the head of state said.

The NATO summit will be one more contribution to our safer future. It is time now to continue enhancing our security. The states of the  Bucharest 9 Format have contributed to enhancing the allied position of defence and supporting our allies. We must capitalize this momentum and to make sure that NATO is ready and has the ability of carrying out its assignments,” the Romanian President stated while addressing the first plenary session of the summit of Bucharest 9 Format in Warsaw.

He pointed out that the Presidents’ B9 Format had confirmed its efficiency since its foundation and up to the present, while stressing that the coming NATO Summit must reaffirm the Alliance’s solidity as a whole, and also the one of the transatlantic bond.

The equitable sharing of the responsibilities is contributing to the allied unity and solidarity and also to a strong Alliance. This is our main approach,” Iohannis concluded.
