President Iohannis asks to address message to Parliament one year after taking office

President Klaus Iohannis on Friday sent a letter to the Parliament Chambers’ speakers, asking to address the Parliament in a plenary sitting on December 16, to mark one year since he took office as Romania’s president.
“I propose you the date for delivering the message in the plenary sitting of the two Chambers of the Parliament to be December 16, at 11 a.m.,” the president says in the letter sent to the Senate Speaker, Călin Popescu Tăriceanu and to the Chamber Speaker, Valeriu Zgonea.
The Parliament will also cast the final vote on the 2016 draft budget on December 16.
Klaus Iohannis was elected as Romania’s president on November 16, 2014 and it has officially taken office on December 21, after the swearing-in ceremony in Parliament.
