President Iohannis invites parliamentary parties to talk about National Defence Strategy

President Klaus Iohannis invites parliamentary parties’ leaders at Cotroceni on Monday, 6 p.m. to discuss on the National Defence Strategy.

The National Security Department within the Presidential Administration, headed back then by George Scutaru and currently by presidential adviser Ion Oprisor, in February began inter institutional consultations to draft the National Country Defence Strategy. The initiative came from president Iohannis through a meeting with the lawmakers of the parliamentary defence committee.

The Presidency pointed out back then that according to the Romanian Constitution and the Law 473/2004 on defence planning, the National Defence Strategy is the main document that underlies the defence planning nationwide, next to the ruling program in force, and it must be forwarded to the Parliament in six-month time since the President’s swearing.
