President Klaus Iohannis said on Tuesday that it is questionable how people with criminal problems were elected and, further on, it’s his obligation to insist very much on the importance of changing the political class, because we are still far from the moment when everyone understands.

“It is questionable how people with criminal problems were elected and unfortunately I have to admit that here I was asked how is it possible in Romania to elect people who face problems with the law. (…) I believe my obligation is to insist very much on the importance of changing the political class, to insist on the cleanliness of the political class,” said President Klaus Iohannis during the state visit in Luxembourg.

Asked to comment on the outcome of the election, the president said he will express his opinion after final results are made public.
