President Iohannis lays wreath of flowers at “La Belle Équipe” restaurant in Paris where two Romanians died following terror attacks
While in Paris on Sunday night, president Klaus Iohannis laid a wreath of flowers at “La Belle Équipe” restaurant, one of the targets of the terrorists on the night of November 13 and where two Romanian citizens have also died. Iohannis voiced hope that terrorism and extremism would be fought.
“It’s the place where innocent people, including two Romanian citizens, lost their lives. Besided the grief and the emotion that stream from this place, the prevalent feeling is the ones of revolt and hope at the same time. Revolt for a bunch of fanatics caused so much pain, and hope that only by joining our forces we’ll be able to fight terrorism and extremist violence, to defend our values and freedom so hardly gained,” the Romanian president posted on Facebook.
On Monday, the Romanian head of state will attend the 21st the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) at the Framework Convention of the UN on Climate Change due in Paris, November 30-December 11.

The new international agreement on climate change will incorporate a set of ambitious and mandatory rules on quantifiable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and which will be in line with the latest scientific and technological discoveries, according to a press release issued by the Presidential Administration in Bucharest.
Klaus Iohannis on Sunday also attended the EU-Turkey Summit in Brussels.
The summit was aimed at consolidating relations on multiple levels between the EU and Turkey, with migration, where Turkey is playing an important role in controlling migratory flows to the EU, topping the agenda. Topics related to the negotiation process of Turkey’s accession to the EU, as well as the deregulation of EU visa regime for Turkish citizens, were also tackled, the Presidency informed.
