In a message delivered on Constitution Day on Friday, President Klaus Iohannis stated that promoting the rule of law and the justice independence, the fight against corruption and ensuring the integrity in the public positions are constitutional values that cannot be negotiated, restricted or removed.

In any democracy, the Constitution is the supreme expression of a nation’s values and it ensures that trust bond between citizens and the state institutions, which is essential for the solid and durable development of any society. Under the fundamental law, of which anniversary we celebrate 26 years today, Romanians prove to be more united than ever around some fundamental principles, and they are actively militating for their observance, without accepting any step behind. Promoting the rule of law and the justice independence, the fight against corruption and ensuring the integrity in the public positions are constitutional values that cannot be negotiated, restricted or removed,” says the Romanian President’s message.

He also pointed out that, as Romania’s President, on the strength of the duties to watch over the observance of the Constitution, he urges all state institutions to consider not only the letter, but also the spirit of the fundamental Law, which is “a compulsory condition for the good ruling of the Romanian society”.
