President Klaus Iohannis has convened the Supreme Defence Council of the country (CSAT) on September 4, on the agenda of the analysis of the proposals of state budget rectification for the institutions with responsibilities in the field of national security.

On Tuesday the Government sent to the Presidency, the request to urgently summon the CSAT sitting, in view of analysing and approval of the proposals to rectify the budgets of institutions dealing with national security.

Tuesday evening, PSD leader Liviu Dragnea had announced this step during a TV talk-show.

“The Government of Romania sent, last evening, to the President of Romania the request to urgently summon the Supreme Defence Council sitting, in view of analysing and approval of the proposals to rectify the budget of the institutions dealing with national security, included in the draft bill on the first budget rectification in 2018,” the release reads.

The Executive made this step based on article 6 (paragraph 2) of the Law 415/2002 regarding the organisation and functioning of the CSAT.
