President Iohannis welcomes his Israeli counterpart, Reuven Rivlin
The Israeli President, Reuven Rivlin, was welcomed by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis at Cotroceni Palace in Bucharest on Tuesday, June 8. “There are strategic privileged relations between Romania and the State of Israel“, said the Romanian head of state within a common press statement with his Israeli counterpart.
Reuven Rivlin, who is paying a state visit in Romania upon Klaus Iohannis’ invitation, addressed the guard of honour in Romanian „Bună ziua!”. Rivlin is to meet Romanian PM Florin Cîţu, at Victoria Palace this afternoon.
According to a press release issued by the Romanian Presidential Administration, Reuven Rivlin’s visit reflects “the solidity” of the bilateral relation and the fact that Israel remains Romania’s “a key partner” with strategic valences in the Middle East.
“There are privileged, strategic relations between Romania and the State of Israel, founded on solid, historical, cultural and human ties. An essential contribution of this special relation belongs to the two communities (…) We are grateful to the community of the Israelis originating from Romania, for their appreciation that our country enjoys in Israel in various fields – technical, medical, artistic, sports, to mention a few”, said President Iohannis.
Romania and Israel celebrate 73 years of continuous diplomatic relations on June 11.
The meeting of the two officials also tackles the situation int he Middle East, focused on the security situation in the region following the recent developments, according to the Romanian Presidency.
