PSD to announce its candidate for Presidency on July 23

Ruling Social Democrat Party (PSD) will announce its candidate for Presidency next Tuesday, on July 23 after the party’s Executive Committee. As for the internal polls, PSD secretary general Mihai Fifor said that Gabriela Firea was measured for the Bucharest City Hall (local elections), Viorica Dancila as party chairwoman, while for the presidential election he was measured, next to Eugen Teodorovici.
“We are on schedule. We’ll see the results of the polls on Tuesday. As of August 10 we start raising signatures, that means we must have the candidate by then, for there are practically 100 days until elections,” Fifor told TVR 1 on Wednesday.
“We measured the Bucharest general mayor and the party’s president. We already know the surveying, how Teodorovici, Fifor or Serban Nicolae are standing. We haven’t measured Gabriela Firea as a candidate for Presidency, but for the Capital city hall. We measured the candidates who voiced their intention to run for Presidency. The party is functioning well at the moment, resumed its life of party as it should (…) Let’s wait for July 23,” Fifor added.
