Galati senator Nicolae Marin has announced on Facebook he is resigning from the ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD) and as Senator quaestor. Marin announced he will get involved in another political project.

The resigning SocDem MP says he is discontent with the attitude of his fellow party members who have isolated him after he had asked for changes in the party.

Nicolae Marin has become MEP Dan Nica’s foe after he had run for the Galati PSD president seat. Dan Nica eventually won the internal elections, with Marin claiming that his stance to promote debate and competition inside the party have annoyed PSD.

He further says there are other discontent members in the party, but they haven’t the courage to talk about this.

Nicolae Marin joined PSD in 2012, coming from PP-DD.

He was elected senator on PSD lists in 2016 and after the EP elections this spring he criticised the party leadership, asking for a “reset” at central and local level.
