PSD mayor from Vrancea promises voters plots to build houses in exchange for their votes at the presidential election
The Social Democrat mayor of Slobozia Bradului village in Vrancea county, Iulian Dumitru, has promised locals on Facebook they will receive plots to build houses if they vote Viorica Dancila at the upcoming presidential election, Realitatea de Vrancea reports.
“These are 150 plots of land for houses. We’ll build roads and footbridges (…) Work in progress since morning. I respectfully salute you. All of you who endorse the mayor, please, vote PSD in the Sunday’s elections. Out of respect for me, go to polls and vote PSD (…) All will benefit of these plots, all youngsters will have plots to build their houses, I wait for you at the polls on Sunday“, the mayor says in a Facebook post.
Contacted by the journalists, the mayor admitted he had promised plots of land, yet saying it was “a regrettable slip”.
According to some documents released by the Labour Ministry, the counties with the most people who receive social aids are Dolj, Buzau, Bacau and Teleorman, overall, more than 200,000 Romanians beneting social allowances of almost RON 700 million. All these counties are led by PSD local barons.
