PSD, USR, PNL, UDMR and the minority group have agreed to participate together in the formation of a pro-European government and parliamentary majority. The governing program is to be discussed in a joint committee. As for the presidential elections, the parties that participated in the discussions mentions “support for a possible common candidate.”
“Today, the pro-European formations PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and the Parliamentary Group of National Minorities announce their firm commitment to forming a pro-European majority in the Romanian Parliament, a pro-European government and supporting a possible joint pro-European candidate in the presidential elections,” says the statement of the parties that participated in the discussions at Victoria Palace.

The document mentions two essential priorities for the signatory parties:
“1. Starting the dialogue for the rapid formation of a pro-European government In the coming days, the four parties and the representatives of the National Minorities will work on a joint governance program, based on development and reforms and which will take into account the priorities of the citizens of Romania. Thus, the parties agreed to establish a joint Commission for the implementation of the governance program and working groups on areas of activity. We agreed that a concrete plan is needed to streamline and reduce public spending and bureaucracy in public administration.
2. Increasing the current pace of investments and reforms in the PNRR. The current moment is a decisive one for Romania. A profound change is needed, and the pro-European parties assume this responsibility. The pro-European parties are committed to increasing trust in institutions and the political class, through good governance, transparency in the spending of public money and respect for the citizen.”
For the inauguration vote of a four-party government, it is necessary to obtain 234 votes of support in Parliament. Pro-European parties and minorities together have 304 MPs.

I would appreciate if someone, anyone can give me an explanation on why all in Romania use the word “minorities” in plural? You only have one minority, the Magyars!
