PSD ranks second in the polls for second month in a row. Who’s first?

The National Liberal Party (PNL) has outranked the ruling Social Democrat Party (PSD) in the polls for the second month in a row, reads an IMAS opinion poll conducted in April and commissioned by Europa FM. The survey says that Romanians would vote for PNL at the upcoming elections (25.6%). PSD ranks second with 21.7% and USR-PLUS Alliance 2020 comes third, with 16.4%.

Pro Romania, led by former PM Victor Ponta is mentioned by 11.7% of the respondents, while UDMR and PMP would get 5.6% each. ALDE, led by Senate Speaker Calin Popescu Tariceanu is credited by 12.2%.

As for the presidential elections, the poll shows that Klaus Iohannis would be voted by 42.7% of the voters if elections were the coming Sunday, more than twice than the next candidate, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, who would get 18.3% of the votes. Victor Ponta ranks third-14.5%, while the other surveyed potential candidates would get 10 or less than 10 per cent: Dacian Ciolos- 10%, iviu Dragnea (8,7%), Dan Barna (2,5%), Eugen Tomac (2,2%) and Kelemen Hunor (1.2%).

The IMAS poll have been conducted on 1,010 people during April 12-15, by phone.
