PSD still first in electorate’s preferences, survey says

According to a Sociopol survey, the Social-Democratic Party (PSD) is leading in electorate’s preferences, followed by PNL and USR.

The opinion poll reveals that PSD stands at 51% preferences, PNL – 27%, USR – 7%, ALDE – 6%, UDMR – 4%, PMP – 3%, stiripesurse.ro informs.

In terms of confidence, public personalities have relatively low levels, with the exception of State Secretary Raed Arafat (founder of SMURD) with 60%. He is followed in the rankings by President Klaus Iohannis – 30%, Bucharest Mayor Gabriela Firea – 29%, PSD Chairman Liviu Dragnea – 23%, PM Mihai Tudose – 22%, ALDE Chairman Calin Popescu Tariceanu – 21%, Labour Minister Lia Olguta Vasilescu – 20%, BNR Governor Mugur Isarescu – 18%, DNA chief Laura Codruta Kovesi – 17%, former PM Victor Ponta – 15%, former PM Dacian Ciolos – 14%, PNL Chairman Ludovic Orban – 9%, former President Traian Basescu – 8%.

Most respondents say Romania is heading to a wrong direction (66%), whereas 21% say it is heading in the right direction and 12% do not answer, do not know.

In regard to amending the justice laws, 20% say they totally agree, 24% say they would somehow agree, whereas 8% and 9% say they somehow agree and certainly do not agree respectively. 39% do not answer, do not know.

TV news broadcasters rankings: Antena 3 TV – 18%, Romania TV – 12%, Realitatea TV – 9%, Digi 24 – 8%, B1TV – 4%.

The survey was conducted during August 28-September 14, 2017 on a representative sample of 1,005 respondents by CATI method (by phone).
