Race for Presidency: CURS survey reveals surprise leader in terms of confidence

The latest CURS survey comes with surprise rankings in terms of confidence in the alleged candidates for the position of President of Romania. The first two positions have changed as compared to the past survey in June.

The highest degree of favourability is for Bucharest Mayor Gabriela Firea – 47%, followed by President Klaus Iohannis – 44%, realitatea.net informs.

Third is the former DNA chief prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi – 42%, who said she would not run for Presidency and would not become politician. Gabriela Firea also she would not run for President.

On the next positions are Pro Romania leader Victor Ponta – 35%, PNL’s Rares Bogdan – 33%, ALDE leader Calin Popescu Tariceanu – 33%, PLUS leader Dacian Ciolos – 33% and USR’s Dan Barna – 23%.

Out of the social-democrats considered as candidates, the highest favourability degree is enjoyed by Health Minister Sorina Pintea – 28%, followed by PM Viorica Dancila – 26%, Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici – 22% and MP Serban Nicolae – 14%.

The survey, Omnibus type, was conducted during June 28-July 8 on a sample of 1,067 respondents at their domicile. The figures have been weighted and the error margin is of +/-3%.

In the previous CURS survey, at the end of June, Klaus Iohannis was on the first position with 49%, followed by Gabriela Firea – 40%.
