PNL Chairman, Ludovic Orban (photo 1), has reacted to the letter sent by PM Viorica Dancila to the European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, by saying she lies in a hallucinating way and that the letter fundamentally affects Romania’s interests at the EU.

“The impertinence of the puppet Premier Dancila to lie in official correspondence fundamentally affects Romania’s interests at the European Union. The way Viorica Dancila lies in official correspondence is hallucinating, in the letter sent to Brussels regarding the situation in Romania. It is the more serious as Viorica Dancila’s puppeteers believe they can misinform in this way the European officials. The Premier’s letter, not made public by the Government, confirms once more that the political power in Bucharest is cast away from reality and acts in bad faith, by trying to reveal an obvious false image over the recent events. In regard to the protests on August 10, with violence and hundreds of injured, the entire European media reported the abuses of the law enforcement forces and the disproportionate intervention against the peaceful protesters,” PNL Chairman, Ludovic Orban, said on Friday.

He added that Viorica Dancila is incapable of understanding the democratic concepts.

Orban said anti-government rallies do not mean ‘an attempt of coup d’état’.

“Only a leader with an authoritarian mentality, such as Liviu Dragnea, may believe the contrary,” Orban said, adding that the right to protest is guaranteed by the Constitution.

“The Premier’s political illiteracy is a huge attempt against Romania’s interests and against democracy. The way she allows herself to lie without shame in official documents, shows once more that this puppet, doer of anti-democratic orders, must leave,” Orban said.

In turn, the leader of the ‘Romania Together Movement’, former Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos (photo 2), calls on PM Dancila to avoid taking refuge in the rhetoric of lie and conspiracy and to urgently resign, following the fact that hundreds of Romanian citizens have been beaten, attacked with gas and offended, without justification.

“You have the duty of honour to solve the tensioned situation the Romanian society is facing. The first step is your urgent resignation. It’s already one week since the Romanian state, the political power, the Romanian Government you lead and the Interior Ministry subordinated to you, have chosen to attack innocent Romanian citizens, which were conducting legitimate protests. (…) By using abusive, illegal and disproportionate violence against their own citizens, the PSD-ALDE Government has failed an important test, has gone beyond a limit after which there is only one solution: resignation,” Dacian Ciolos wrote in a letter addressed to PM Dancila posted on his movement’s website.

“I’ve learned with sadness that hundreds of Romanian citizens have been beaten, attacked with gas and offended without justification, for the only reason that they only protested against the party you belong to and against the one who is leading the party. As the violence occurred during your term, you are fully responsible. The honour of your office demands you to urgently resign,” Ciolos added.

He urged the Premier to offer the Romanian people the chance to regain dignity, as of the moment of her resignation and in this way Romania could carry on, reasonably and with dignity, the presidency of the European Union Council.

USR: PSD to dismiss Viorica Dancila

The Save Romania Union (USR) calls on the Social-Democratic Party (PSD) to urgently dismiss Viorica Dancila, as the letter sent to Brussels has a revolting and dangerous content.

“We request PSD to urgently dismiss Viorica Dancila, the Premier is a disgrace to Romania. By the letter sent today to the European officials, PM Dancila proves once more that she is a puppet led by Liviu Dragnea. The letter’s content is revolting and dangerous,” a message posted on USR’s website reads.

USR says it is unacceptable that Viorica Dancila takes refuge in the rhetoric of lie.

“The Premier’s statement that it was an attempt to violently oust the government is unacceptable in the context of hundreds of video proves and confessions from the victims and as unbelievable as the government she leads. The resignation of Viorica Dancila should be an act of courage by PSD, even a week later after attacking with gas the Romanian citizens,” the USR message reads.
