Romania-Georgia multisectoral collaboration program signed on Friday

Romanian and Georgian Foreign Ministers, Bogdan Aurescu and Tamar Beruchashvili, signed on Friday at the Victoria Palace, in the presence of the two states’ premiers, Victor Ponta and Irakli Garibashvili, a collaboration program between Romania and Georgia in the areas of culture, education and science, media, youth and sports.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta welcomed his Georgian counterpart visit to Bucharest and congratulated him for the successful visit he paid to Brussels. Romanian Prime Minister reaffirmed that Romania remains a strong supporter of Georgia’s accession to the European Union and NATO.

After the talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, PM Ponta said that Romania always supports best Moldova, yet he believes that our country has “the interest and duty” not to forget Georgia, which stood by EU and NATO despite the difficult regional context.

In his turn, Irakli Garibashvili thanked his Romanian counterpart for his personal contribution in supporting Georgia in its endeavors to join the EU and NATO.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili is paying an official visit to Romania and has scheduled meetings with the Senate Speaker, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, and with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Valeriu Zgonea.
