Romania is stopping the payment of its contribution to the UN agency for Palestine refugees, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday, after UNRWA staff members were accused of being involved in the terrorist attack committed by Hamas on October 7.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) says it has taken note with the utmost concern of the recent serious allegations regarding the alleged involvement of staff members of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East – UNRWA – in the terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israel, from 7 October 2023. These accusations must be the subject of immediate and in-depth UN investigations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes.
“We welcome the quick reaction of the UNRWA management to terminate the contracts of the persons concerned with immediate effect and we express our full confidence that the investigations started by the UN, which are also under the attention of the Secretary General of the organization, will clarify the situation in the shortest possible time”, stated the MFA.
Until the investigation is completed, Romania will not launch procedures for new voluntary contributions to UNRWA, according to the MAE. When asked if this means the suspension of funds, the representatives of the MAE stated that Romania contributed voluntarily until now and for this year it had no commitments, on a voluntary basis, announced.
“The needs of Palestinian civilians will continue to be a priority for Romania, and we will continue to coordinate with our partners, including at the European level,” the MFA also transmitted.
Countries that have suspended funding for UNRWA include the US, Germany, the UK and Australia. The United Nations Palestine Refugee Agency (UNRWA) announced on Friday that it has opened an investigation into several staff members suspected of involvement in the October 7 attacks in Israel by Hamas and said it has terminated cooperation with these staff members.
The Israeli press writes that it would be about 12 employees of the UN Agency for Palestinian refugees who would have been in the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7.

Why so much eagerness? Wait for the official investigations by UN. What is the principal here? Anyone can accuse anything? If this is the case… I would like to accuse ET the alien of humanophobia.
