Romania Targets €15 Billion Investments from Qatar while PM Ciolacu on working visit there
The Romanian Prime Minister, Marcel Ciolacu, and an official delegation will discuss investment projects totaling 15 billion euros during their working visit to Qatar from April 16th to 17th, 2024. Additionally, the Prime Minister will meet with Romanian communities in Qatar.
“The State of Qatar is an important commercial partner of Romania in the Gulf region, and attracting investments worth 15 billion euros will contribute to strengthening our economic and political collaboration. We have clear and mature projects for Qatari investors. The strategic position, the upward trajectory of the economy and the opportunities offered by the European funds are arguments that support Romania’s investment attractiveness”, said Romanian PM Marcel Ciolacu.
During their visit to Doha, the Prime Minister of Romania and the government delegation will hold in-person meetings with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. The Romanian Prime Minister will join his Qatari counterpart in signing several bilateral agreements, followed by joint press statements by both officials.
In Qatar, the head of the Romanian Executive will also have discussions with representatives of the Investment Authority, the state’s sovereign investment fund.
PM Ciolacu will be accompanied on his visit to the Persian Gulf by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Sorin Grindeanu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminiţa Odobescu, the Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Ştefan-Radu Oprea, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Florin-Ionuţ Barbu, the Minister of Energy , Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization, Bogdan Ivan, president of ANCOM, Valeriu Zgonea, president of ANSVSA, Alexandru Bociu, president of Hidroelectrica, Karoly Borbely, director of the Port of Constanţa, Mihai Teodorescu.
