Romanian FM welcomes new Dutch, Polish ambassadors

The new ambassadors of the Netherlands and Poland, Stella Ronner-Grubacic and Marcin Bartlomiej Wilczek presented their credential letters’ copies to the Romanian foreign minister Bogdan Aurescu on Tuesday.

The agreed Dutch ambassador in Bucharest and the Romanian FM reviewed the perspectives of the bilateral relations, agreeing on enhancing the high-level bilateral dialogue. FM Aurescu hailed the visit his Dutch counterpart Bert Koenders is paying in Bucharest this month. 135 years of bilateral relations are marked this year. At Romania’s initiative, the anniversary will be marked by the joint presence of the two FMs at the concert performed by Concertgebouw Amsterdam Royal Orchestra within George Enescu ongoing festival.

At the same time, FM Aurescu expressed satisfaction over the Netherlands ranking first on foreign investments in Romania, with an invested capital of over EUR 8 billion.

The two officials also expressed will to enhance cooperation at European level on files of joint interest, particularly in the view of the Netherlands’ taking over the EU Council Presidency as of January 1, 2016. Illegal immigration, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova, as well as perspectives of Romania’s admission to Schengen area were also tackled, reads a press release of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

FM Aurescu also welcomed the agreed Polish ambassador to Romania, expressing satisfaction over the excellent level of the Romanian-Polish bilateral relations, based on a strong Strategic Partnership. “The two officials expressed intention to boost the cooperation on political, military and security dimensions and to further develop a consistent relation on the business level,” reads MAE press release.

The Romanian diplomacy head mentioned the trilateral dialogue Romania-Poland-Turkey in the regional security context in the Eastern neighborhood of EU and NATO. Both countries expressed wish to fathom the cooperation in preparing the NATO Summit due in Warsaw next year.

FM Aurescu also hailed the visit of the Polish foreign minister Grzegorz Schetyna in Bucharest on September 2, to attend the Annual Meeting of the Romanian Diplomacy, as special guest.
