Romanian MFA Advises Citizens to Delay Travel to Kenya Due to Unrest

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends Romanian citizens who intend to travel to Kenya to review their travel plans and postpone their trips to this African state, due to security developments generated by internal tensions,

“Amid the security developments generated by the internal tensions in the Republic of Kenya, including the recent demonstrations in Nairobi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to raise the alert level for this state to level 8/9 – Avoid all travel! – (…). Thus, the MFA recommends Romanian citizens who intend to travel to this state to revise their travel plans and postpone their trips to Kenya”, the MFA transmitted.

Also, the MAE strongly recommends Romanian citizens who are on the territory of this state to urgently notify their presence at the Romanian Embassy in Nairobi, in order to facilitate obtaining consular assistance and protection, if the situation requires it.

At the same time, citizens present in Kenya are advised to exercise special caution and avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and strictly follow any instructions from local authorities. Through the Romanian Embassy in Nairobi, the MFA monitors the security situation, the diplomatic mission being prepared to provide consular assistance, according to its competences.

The MFA reminds that Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the phone number of the Romanian Embassy in Nairobi (+254721214073), calls being forwarded to the Contact and Support Center for Romanian Citizens Abroad (CCSCRS) and taken over by Call Center operators under permanence. Also, Romanian citizens who face a difficult, special, urgent situation have at their disposal the diplomatic mission’s emergency telephone number: +254708368303.
