Romanian PM to meet Ursula von der Leyen, Angela Merkel and Donald Tusk in Zagreb
President Klaus Iohannis and PM Ludovic Orban will be in Zagreb on Wednesday and Thursday to attend the EPP Congress. The Liberal premier is to meet EC President-elect, Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Donald Tusk, and important European leaders.
According to the Government’s website, Ludovic Orban will meet his Irish counterpart Leo Varadkar, today at 15:25hrs, local time, and at 15:45hrs he will meet Antonio Lopez Isturiz, EPP secretary general. The Romanian premier will also meet the EC Vice-President Jyrki Katainen at 17:00hrs and at 17:45hrs with the EC President-elect Ursula von der Leyen.
On Wednesday at 18:30hrs Orban will have a short encounter with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and with the European Council President Donald Tusk at 19:30hrs. A meeting with the Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled at 19:00hrs.
On Thursday Orban will meet EPP President Joseph Daul first thing in the morning at 7:30hrs, and then with Manfred Weber, the leader of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, at 8:15hrs.
Ludovic Orban will also have meetings with the Croatian PM Andrej Plenkovic, with bilateral talks and a press conference in store around 9:00hrs and with Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz at 10:30hrs.
The Romanian PM will also have talks with the former Moldovan PM Maia Sandu and with Pablo Casadio, the chairman of the Partido Popular Spain.
The EPP Congress in Croatia is set to elect the party’s president, vice-presidents and secretary general. Romanian Liberal MEP Siegfried Mureșan is running for a Vice-President position.
