The Russian Federation is recruiting through the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) people to participate in the protest in support of Călin Georgescu, announced on March 26 in Bucharest, reports Deschide.md.

The publication from the Republic of Moldova shows that Moscow mobilized several representatives of the PSRM (a pro-Russian party) to recruit Moldovans to participate in the demonstration on March 26.

On March 26, on the birthday of Călin Georgescu, a protest organized by AUR was announced in support of the former candidate in the presidential elections, which was blocked by the Constitutional Court of Romania in the meantime.

One of those responsible for the participation of citizens from the Republic of Moldova in the protest in Bucharest is Alexandr Haceaturean, the half-brother of the PSRM executive secretary, Vlad Bătrîncea, according to sources cited by Deschide.md.

Bătrîncea, who holds the position of vice-president of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, tore up the map of Greater Romania in the plenary session of the Parliament 10 years ago.

Journalists from the neighboring country show that Haceaturean “is actively involved in recruiting people from the PSRM environment to participate in this demonstration” and that the respective actions “demonstrate a direct connection” between pro-Russian structures in the Republic of Moldova and Georgescu’s movement.

Haceaturean also promoted Călin Georgescu online during 2025.

Russian officials have had several messages in recent months showing their support for Călin Georgescu. The last message in this regard came against the backdrop of the BEC’s decision to invalidate his candidacy (a decision later upheld by the CCR).

Recently, Călin Georgescu gave an interview to a pro-Russian journalist from the neighboring country, in which he maintained the Kremlin’s narratives regarding the existence of the “Moldovan people”, among other things.

  1. Panagiotis Spyridis says

If we want 1) no war with Russia 2) good trade relations with Neighbors 3) seek more respect from OTAN and EU, then we are traitors? So, if there is Anger Management therapy, then why isn’t there Stupidity Thought therapy?
