Sanctions in ICR Paris’ invitations scandal, ongoing internal investigation
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed on Monday that the diplomat of the Romanian Embassy to Romania, involved in sending an internal file using insults to some members of the Romanian Diaspora in France, was recalled to Bucharest, while the director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Paris was sanctioned with warning. An internal investigation conducted by the Control and Diplomatic Evaluation Body is under way.
MFA apologized once again for the “intolerable and deeply regrettable situation in Paris.”
The Romanian ambassador in Paris, Bogdan Mazuru sent an apologizing letter to Radu Portocala, the Romanian writer living in France who received an invitation accompanied to an internal file including ill-suited opinions addressed to several persons.
The Romanian Foreign Ministry said the Romanian diplomat of the embassy who edited the controversial document was given a warning, as the only possible disciplinary measure that can be immediately taken until the internal investigation is concluded. The diplomat was also recalled immediately in Bucharest, facing the ministry’s ethical committee judgement.
Yvette Fulicea, head of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Paris, involved in the scandal, was also given a warning. She is to be heard by the Control and Diplomatic Evaluation Body.
