Senate Oks ridesharing GEO
The Senate (the upper chamber of the Romanian Parliament) has approved and partially amended the emergency ordinance on the ridesharing activities.
Ridesharing companies and persons under this provision have a phase-in period to comply with the GEO 49 by February 1, 2020. Initially, the deadline was November 1, 2019.
Another amendment operated on the ordinance refers to the revenues of the taxi digital app operators.
“All incomes obtained following a transport by an alternative car or driver, including the incomes of the operators of the digital taxi services obtained from activities in Romania are taxed in accordance with the tax legislation in Romania“.
Senators have also admitted an amendment saying that the operator of the digital taxi service will have to register a subsidiary at the National Trade Register Office, through which it conducts its commercial activities in Romania.
On the other hand, the Senate has removed from the ordinance the obligation of the ridesharing vehicles to have at least five seats.
The ridesharing GEO was adopted on June 25.
