Senator Mihai Fifor nominated as Transport minister, sources say

PSD Senator Mihai Fifor, president of the Senate’s transport and energy committee was designated to take over Transport minister position, which has been vacant since Ioan Rus quitted. According to governmental sources quoted by Agerpres, the nomination has been sent to president Klaus Iohannis since Friday.

PM Ponta accepted Rus’ resignation in June 11 after the former minister had made controversial statements about Romanians working abroad and their families.

Mihai Fifor, 45 is senator of Dolj and also chairman of  the Social Democrat Party’s branch in Craiova. He was state secretary within the Interior Ministry twice, in 2009 and in 2012.
