SRI: Cyber security law, mandatory for national security system
The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) lobbied for the cyber security law on Sunday, saying in a press release that it is compulsory for the target to get the national cyber security system operational and to speed the adoption of the necessary measures to combat this type of aggressions.
“(…) We reiterate that the law, as it was passed by the Parliament, doesn’t enable the state institutions’ access to persons’ private data without a judge’s preliminary authorization. From this point of view, we consider that any fears, speculations and public accusations are groundless,” reads the press release signed by SRI spokesperson, Sorin Sava.
The Romanian Intelligence Service points out that, according to the afore mentions law, only cyber infrastructure holders (natural persons owning IT&C equipment such as computers, tablets, smartphones are excluded) have the obligation to place exclusive technical data to the qualified authorities’ disposal “(…) If the technical data evaluation reveals the investigation should be extended to some equipment involved in the cyber aggression and can be related to a certain person, the access to this equipment will be possible only based on authorization issued by a judge,” the press release also reads.
