SRI’s Cyberint opens new HQs

President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday attended the opening of the new headquarters of National Cyberint Center, a specialized structure of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) whose main mission is to intertwine technical defense systems with intelligence capabilities in order to identify and provide legal beneficiaries with the necessary information to prevent, stop, and / or contain the consequences of acts of aggression on the IT&C systems representing critical infrastructures.

Cyberint was set up in 2008 after SRI was designated as national cyberintellingence authority by the Supreme Defence Council (CSAT).

According to a press release issued by the Presidential Administration, president Iohannis remarked SRI’s progress in enforcing a national cybersecurity system considering cyber attacks threat is in a constant dynamics.

The abovementioned source also informed the President talked about the importance of the prevention part in this field and about the need to adopt a proper, modern legislative framework capable of offering the necessary tools to preserve the cybersecurity in Romania.
