NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has been diagnosed with shingles and will only attend remotely at events he was invited to, a North Atlantic Alliance official was quoted as saying on Thursday. Stoltenberg was due to arrive in Romania on Friday to take part in the B9 Summit, hosted by President Klaus Iohannis at the Cotroceni Palace.
“The Secretary-General will carry out his planned visit to Germany and Romania remotely and not in person. He was diagnosed with shingles, which can happen after COVID-19, and works from home, “the NATO official told Reuters.
Stoltenberg tested positive for COVID-19 in mid-May. At the time, he had mild symptoms and worked from home, according to a NATO spokesman.
