Suspended mayor of Sibiu, Astrid Fodor, reinstated
Former mayor of Sibiu, Astrid Fodor, can regain her office as mayor, following a Sibiu Tribunal ruling on Friday.
The court has practically ruled to suspend the order issued by the Sibiu prefect, Adela Muntean, through which Fodor had been suspended from office.
The prefect suspended Fodor from the mayor seat following a final ruling by the High Court of Cassation and Justice that confirmed a previous decision of the National Integrity Agency on Astrid Fodor’s incompatibility.
Four years ago, he National Integrity Agency (ANI) has determined that Astrid Fodor was incompatible with her former deputy mayor position, when the mayor of Sibiu was the current president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis. ANI argued back then that Fodor had simultaneously held the deputy mayor seat and the one as member of the management board of two schools in Sibiu during September 29, 2012-July 3, 2014.
Early this month, deputy mayor Corina Bokor has been elected the new mayor of Sibiu had been named interim mayor of Sibiu, filling Fodor’s vacant seat.
