UDMR and the parliamentary group of national minorities are expected to sign this afternoon the National Political Pact regarding Romania’s European course, initiated by President Klaus Iohannis after the EP elections and the referendum on Justice.

The Opposition parties signed the pact in mid-June, while the ruling coalition parties, PSD and ALDE refused to sign it, and UDMR delayed decision to sign it.

The pact had been signed by the leaders of PNL, USR PLUS, Pro Romania and PMP in a ceremony at Cotroceni Palace on June 13.

The head of state said, during the signing ceremony of the Political Pact, that Romanians turned to the polling stations and had a firm answer to the questions at the referendum.

“Romanians have voted for Europe and against the despicable attacks on justice,” President Iohannis said back then.
