Justice Minister, Tudorel Toader, has sent a strange message to cancel a meeting scheduled Tuesday morning with the registrars’ trade union.
“We will have to cancel the meeting because I will no longer be at the ministry’s helm,” the message reads, according to Realitatea TV private broadcaster.
The meeting should have taken place Tuesday morning. Minister Toader is on vacation this week, with the exception of Wednesday, when he is to present the assessment conducted on the Prosecutor General, Augustin Lazar’s activity.
The source argues that Tudorel Toader might have clear signals that he will be one of the ministers on the reshuffling list, among the names rumoured to replace him are PSD members Serban Nicolae and Eugen Nicolicea.
Later in the morning, Minister Toader has announced he had a meeting with the registrars’ trade union representatives and has rejected the information in the media.
“Today, I’ve had a meeting with the Registrars’ Trade Union representatives! Contrary to the information in the public space, I’ve made no statements regarding my status as member as the Government team!” Tudorel Toader wrote on Facebook.
Last Friday, President Klaus Iohannis called on Minister Tudorel Toader to resign, following the tough report from the Venice Commission, stressing that “the Justice Minister has definitely discredited his credibility, a sound reason for him to file the resignation.”
On Monday, Tudorel Toader, currently on vacation, posted on Facebook several messages regarding the Emergency Ordinance on the laws of justice, underlining that the messages would be deleted in one hour.
