Rejected two times by President Klaus Iohannis to be appointed Minister of Development, then as Minister of Transport, Lia Olguţa Vasilescu will be honorary adviser to Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă on infrastructure issues, PSD leader Liviu Dragnea has announced on Sunday. Liviu Dragnea made this announcement in a press conference in Târgu Jiu, in the context of talking about the Pitesti-Craiova express road. He said that he has travelled 8 hours from Bucharest to Resita, so “it is absolutely essential that this express road is completed.”

Lia Olguţa Vasilescu was Minister of Labour in the PSD Government and was later proposed to the Ministry of Development. After being rejected by President Klaus Iohannis, Vasilescu became the proposal for the Transport portfolio. But she has been repeatedly denied by the head of state for this post.

Olguta Vasilescu argues it is PM Dancila’s wish to have her in the Government team, so she opted for the honorary adviser on infrastructure, in order to oversee the express roads Pitesti-Craiova and Craiova-Targu Jiu.

“Although I could not do this as minister, I will be able to oversee the works on these objectives as honorary adviser to the Premier, the only position enabling me to keep the term as Dolj MP,” Vasilescu wrote on Facebook.

She also said she wants to get involved in achieving by PSD the objectives announced during the election campaign.

“Premier Viorica Dancila wanted me to remain in the Government team and I have chosen this position, with the wish to participate to achieving the objectives promised during the election campaign,” she added.
