The US Ambassador in Bucharest, Hans Klemm, has arrived Monday morning at Victoria Palace for talks with Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, sources say.
After the talks, Premier Viorica Dancila said: “We have concluded the meeting, we tackled issues concerning Romania. We have talked about Romania and the way it can become an OCDE member, about the US investors in Romania, about visas, about the 2% (of GDP) for defence, about Romania becoming armament producer for the entire region,” PM Dancila said, according to digi24.ro.
US Ambassador Hans Klemm has expressed his belief in the continuation of the positive dynamics in the bilateral relationship and the interest of the US diplomatic mission in Bucharest to continue the dialogue with the Romanian institutions in order to implement the joint projects and capitalize on the opportunities offered by the Strategic Partnership to promote the values and interests of two partners.
At the same time, the US Ambassador has conveyed the appreciation of the United States for the fact that Romania is promoting a gender equality model by appointing a woman to the Executive, and has stressed his willingness to support the efforts to consolidate Romania and the Romanian-American relations, the Government release reads.
US Ambassador Hans Klemm and Prime Minister Viorica Dancila have also discussed Justice issues during the meeting on Monday, the US Embassy in Bucharest has announced.
Government Spokesman, Nelu Barbu, said on Sunday that the meeting between PM Dancila and Ambassador Klemm is scheduled at 10.00h, as the first of a series of meetings the Romanian Premier will have with the envoys accredited in Romania.
“The meeting with the US Ambassador is the first one of a series of meeting the Prime Minister will have with the representatives of the diplomatic missions in Bucharest,” Nelu Barbu said.
