USR, banned from bringing guests in the Parliament building after lower chamber’s protest
The Standing Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies (Romanian Parliament’s lower chamber) has decided on Monday that Save Romania Union (USR) from the opposition will not be able to allow guests at its parliamentary group inside the Parliament’s building after a spontaneous protest has been staged in front of the plenary session hall in Parliament last Wednesday, PM Viorica Dancila was delivering a speech about the Romania’s preparations in the view of taking over the EU Council Presidency in the first semester of 2019.
The protesters entered the Parliament with invitations offered by USR. After they got into the Parliament building, they remained on level P1 to stage the protest instead of going to 1M level where the USR parliamentary group is.
„The Standing Bureau has just allowed one of the biggest abuses in the history of the Romanian Parliament so far. The PSD group leader has proposed a collective punishment, that the entire USR group should be banned from receiving guests in Parliament. It is a regulation abuse (…),” USR deputy Claudiu Nasui stated.
