USR meets PM, chair Dan Barna asks Dancila to adopt no GEO on criminal codes
PM Viorica Dancila has met a delegation of USR opposition party at the Government’s office on Friday. Justice Minister Tudorel Toader attended the meeting. The USR representatives have asked the prime minister to not issue an emergency ordinance on the criminal codes during the period that Romania is at the helm of the EU Council, arguing such an ordinance would make our country vulnerable.
“Issuing such an ordinance on judiciary would create an unprecedented perception and a social crisis in Romania, that would entirely cover the perspective of taking over the Presidency of the EU Council, so the topic discussed today has been somehow between these two elements. An emergency ordinance would create a vulnerability for the message Romania is sending during the mandate at the helm of the EU Council,” said USR chairman Dan Barna.
