Excluded from the social-democrat party (PSD) Marian Vanghelie and Mircea Geoana intend to set up a left wing party as an alternative to Victor Ponta, ziare.com informs. Vanghelie claims he already has the support of dozens of PSD MPs which would support a non-confidence vote against the Ponta cabinet. Mircea Geoana announced on Realitatea TV he is to launch, together with Vanghelie, a political project for the left wing supporters. Mircea Geoana called on his former PSD colleagues to read his alarm signal and send the ‘old PSD’ into opposition. ‘We have to have the courage to build the new PSD and propose to the new president a German-like coalition,’ Geoana said, adding that his goal is to sign a national pact between the new PSD and the new PNL, seen as the only chance for Romania for the coming years. According to Vanghelie, he has already convinced 25 PSD MPs to join the new political force, gandul.info reports.
