A new blunder made by the PSD candidate for Presidency, Viorica Dancila, has been revealed, this time committed in 2017 when the former PM was MEP.
Back then, she sent a letter to the her MEP colleagues in Brussels, to explain them the necessity of the controversial GEO 13 that sparked mass protests in Bucharest and across Romania.
In the document sent by Dăncilă, she signed herself „Viorica Dăncilă, MEP for Romania, chef of the Romanian S&D delegation”. She probably meant “the chief of the Romanian S&D delegation”.
GEO 13, an ordinance that used to brutally amend the criminal codes and justice laws, in the sense of decriminalizing certain corruption offenses, was adopted by the first PSD Government that came to power after the 2016 elections, and led by Sorin Grindeanu.
The GEO, adopted on the sly by the Government, at night, prompted the citizens’ discontent, with tens of thousands taking to the street in protest.
The wide protests and reactions from abroad compelled the former Executive to repeal the ordinance.
