Who is the new Russian ambassador to Romania?
Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed a new ambassador to Bucharest on Tuesday, namely Vladimir Lipaev, the former ambassador of Russia in Tallinn. He was expelled by the Estonian authorities in 2023, amid the diplomatic conflict with Moscow.
Russian President Vladimir Putin officially released Valeri Kuzmin from the post of Russian ambassador to Romania on Tuesday.
In another decision, Putin appointed Vladimir Gheorghievici Lipaev as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Romania, official documents show.
Lipaev, born in 1959, worked for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1981. According to official data, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of International Relations and held positions both in the Russian capital and abroad, including in Norway and Germany, and speaks English, German and French.
