Romania helped Ukraine survive during the blockade of agricultural exports by Poland, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who thanked President Klaus Iohannis for the help, Interfax reports. I thank God that smart Romania appeared and that the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis helped me. It helped our farmers to survive. And it wasn’t easy for him either, he had protests. But I think he showed the lucidity of a strongman who said: “First are the values, then are the prices,” Zelensky said in a press conference.
The Ukrainian president noted that there is now a new government in Poland and expressed hope that the issue of blocking grain exports would be resolved. I had contact with President Duda, he congratulated me on our important holidays and vice versa – I turned to him. I normalized this relationship. I think the new government will unlock this whole blockade. It’s artificial,” he said.
As Zelensky noted, “you can’t politicize the grain issue when everything is blocked.”
From April to September it was very difficult, we lost hundreds of millions of dollars, we lost part of the harvest, we lost every day. And every day our farmers asked me, “Our fields are mined, how can we even get something out?” And that happened, and we started to lose political relations,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, he expressed gratitude to the Polish people for their support to Ukraine. But you understand: I am not some kind of scoundrel, I defend the interests of my country during war. I said: just take out the grains, they didn’t let us take them out. And it was wrong. It is simply wrong,” Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian Prime Minister, Denis Shmîhal, has also recently stated that 70% of the grain exported by Ukraine currently passes through Romania. Our partnership is broad and comprehensive. We appreciate the measures taken by Romania regarding financial aspects, sanctions. Cooperation on the logistics side is particularly important, we provide a transport corridor for the export of Ukraine. Currently, 70% of our cereals are exported through Romania. Thus, Ukraine continues to be a guarantor of global food security”, said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
He also thanked for Romania’s support for Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and expressed confidence that his country will soon be part of the family of European nations.

He should also thank the Romanian Society, mainly in Buchuresti for putting up with the socially unaccepted Ukrainians parking their cars on walkways, invalid spaces and provoking with their wealth show-off.
