President Iohannis thanks Italian counterpart for the way Romanians are treated in Italy

President Klaus Iohannis has met his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella on Monday, thanking him for the way Romanians are treated and integrated in Italy.

Klaus Iohannis is on a state visit to Italy these days. Romanians in the Peninsula are the largest Diaspora community our country has abroad.

I underlined the values, common history and rich culture and we talked about the two common communities, the Italians who live in Romania and the Romanian community in Italy,” the Romanian head of state told a joint press conference with Sergio Mattarella, at Quirinale Palace.

According to Iohannis, there are 1.2 million Romanians residing in Italy.

This Romanian community is very well integrated and valued in Italy. We extended our thanks for the way Romanians are treated and integrated in Italy”, Iohannis added.
