President Klaus Iohannis will meet the Ambassadors of EU Member States accredited in Bucharest on Tuesday, at an event organized at 14.00h by the Embassy of Bulgaria, the country currently holding the Presidency of the European Union Council.
“Part of the discussions about the domestic developments, the Romanian President will talk about strengthening democracy and the rule of law as essential elements for the future of our country. In this context, President Klaus Iohannis will emphasize his strong commitment in terms of observing the principles of the rule of law, strengthening the independence of the judiciary and continuing the fight against corruption,” the Presidential Administration informs in a statement.
According to the source, this meeting will address issues related to the main topics on the agenda of the European Council sitting on June 28-29, such as migration, EU security, internal market, the future EU budget for 2021-2027 and the EU’s External Relations. The future Romanian Presidency of the Council in 2019 will also be discussed.
