President Klaus Iohannis has slammed the Government led by Viorica Dancila again, accusing it of lack of involvement to carry out Ungheni-Iasi-Targu Mures motorway, designed to link Moldavia to the rest of the country.
During a meeting with the associations that endorse a motorway to Moldavia on Thursday, Klaus Iohannis argued the Executive had proven a total lack of vision and involvement considering that the EU officials had said the highway could be financed with European money.
The head of state said responsibility is needed, while the government must assume some clear deadlines to make this investment, which represents a national priority.
Moreover, the President hinted he does not agree the Iasi-Targu Neamt motorway section to be made in public-private partnership, reminding this decision has been criticised even by the European Commission, the more Romania has EU funds at hand to make this investment.
The associations welcomed at Cotroceni reminded the negative effects of the lack of an motorway in the northeastern region: massive labour migration overseas, the decline of the competitiveness and of investments.
