The Public Ministry has confirmed on Wednesday that the budget rectification conducted by the Government in early September has cut budgetary credit for the institution by RON 10 million, a decrease expected to have negative results on the activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office structures.
The confirmation follows the assertions made by the First Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office upon the Brasov Court, Claudiu Sandu, who said the activity of the institution has been affected by the recent budget rectification. There is no money for expertise, for the wage contributions to the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), he said.
In a press release on Wednesday, the Prosecutor General’s Office states that the budget has been cut based on Government Emergency Ordinance no. 78/2018 regarding the state budget for 2018 rectification.
Considering the situation, the Prosecutors General of the Prosecutor Offices upon the Court of Appeals, the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) and the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) chiefs or the heads of Prosecutor Offices upon the Courts have to prioritize the expenditures for investigations.
“As an important share in this category is the one of expenses for the investigation of the criminal files (judicial expertise, technical and accounting expertise required in criminal cases, the translations required for solving the files, including the indictments in the criminal files involving foreign citizens), the secondary and tertiary credit release authorities with the Public Ministry are to prioritize the expenditures for the criminal prosecution activities, and at the next budgetary rectification to request the sums needed to restore the budgetary balance,” the Prosecutor General ‘s Office informs.
