A protocol incident took place at the inauguration of the Estonian Consulate in Constanta on Sunday. The flag of the Republic of Estonia was hoisted upside down in the Ovidius University Hall, where the prime ministers of Romania and Estonia held speeches before the new consul was sworn in.
The blunder of those who arranged the room was immediately noticed by Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas after the anthems of the two countries. The PM headed for the flag, pulled him off the lance, and positioned him correctly.
The Estonian Prime Minister’s gesture was applauded by the audience. Premier Juri Ratas then held his speech, but did not make any reference to the incident.
At the end of the event, at the exit of Ovidius University, Prime Minister Viorica Dăncila was booed by about ten people, on the sidewalk near the building.
The error on Sunday comes one day after Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă, on Saturday, did not recall the name of his counterpart at the inauguration conference of the Tallinn-Constanţa direct flight.
